PROJECTS

PGENI

PGENI (Pharmacogenetics for Every National Initiative) is a labor of love for Dr. Howard McLeod and illustrates the vision of IPIT.  The major aim of PGENI is to develop a guide to what drugs are likely to work best in different populations across the globe.

There are 4 goals to the project:

  • Enhance the understanding of pharmacogenetics in the developing world
  • Help build local infrastructure for future pharmacogenetics research studies
  • Provide guidelines for medical prioritization for individual countries using pharmacogenetics
  • Promote the integration of genetic information into public health decision making policies
